[I9001] Google Market crashes after factory reset

I did a factory reset of a Galaxy S Plus (GT-I9001, Stock ROM 2.3.6). After that Google Market crashes and I'm not able to update to Google Play (nor anything else): "The application Google Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly."

I've already tried the following:

• Deleted data and cache of the Google Market app (Settings > Apps > ...)
• Factory reset (again) from recovery menu
• Wiped cache partition from recovery menu
• Manually installed current Google Play APK (crashes with the same error too)

Any help appreciated!
