G800Y rom compatability

Hi guys. I got myself an S5 mini a couple of days ago and really cannot cope with the bloated stock rom any longer. My phone is a 'Y' variant though and there seems to be only a couple of roms which specify that they are compatible with this model. Reading through the forums I can't get a clear answer on whether roms fpr the 'F' variant will work OK on the 'Y' variant. Most comments seem to say that the phones are identical and there should be no problem, however the only comments that I have found from someone who has actually tried to do this reported that it resulted in a soft brick.
It would be great to hear some definitive answers about this from someone who knows for sure. Thanks!
