Chrome and Samsung default apps like Gallery don't respond to touch input

Apps like Chrome and default apps like Dialer, Messaging, Planner, Gallery just don't respond properly to my touch input. I have to touch super hard/ bash on the screen for these to respond, and I have no idea why this is happening.

Things I've tried:

• I saw a previous empty thread asking for how to fix the UI lag in Chrome and default applications like Dialer, Messaging, Planner, Gallery etc., but there were no replies there.
• Every other app like Firefox, Swiftkey keyboard, and other third-party apps work flawlessly and touch is instantaneous on them.
• Have tried uninstalling updates for Chrome and Android System Webview and even cleared cache and everything for these but no luck.
• Not something that was happening since the beginning. Earlier touch used to work properly in Chrome also. No idea what is causing this issue.
