When most OEMs release a new smartphone, we generally see a number of its first OTA updates focused on optimization and bug fixes. This has happened with the OnePlus 5 and its software is continuing to be worked on 4 months after it was released. We're currently seeing OxygenOS version 4.5.11 rolling out to Canadian owners right now that fixes a number of bugs that have been plaguing some owners of the latest OnePlus flagship.
OnePlus rolled out OxygenOS version 4.5.10 to OnePlus 5 owners just a little over a month ago and it included improvements to the camera (noise reduction), improved call functionality for Jio users, and other system optimizations. The company seems to be sticking with the 4.5 version branch for this new OTA update as it is simply adding in some more optimizations and bug fixes that many customers have been waiting on.
Thanks to Reddit user gotfrydm, we know this update is currently rolling out in Canada and it adds a number of changes to the software. For those worried about the recent Blueborne vulnerability, OxygenOS 4.5.11 comes with Android's September security patches. Interestingly, there's also been changes to supposedly make the device open up applications faster than before, though there's no details about what exactly OnePlus did to achieve that optimization. We're also told that this new update now supports the customization of notification ringtones.
As for bug fixes, OxygenOS 4.5.11 has fixed the adaptive brightness issue that some OnePlus 5 customers have been complaining about. The company mentions that the update also fixes a YouTube video lagging issue that made the video desync with the audio. They also fixed a bug that impacted 4G+ users in various regions. The last bug fix included in this update talks about "display issues of some UI elements" though it's not clear what exactly those issues are as of now.
