Initial units of the Essential Phone are yet to ship to customers. Andy Rubin's company must have been testing the device ahead of release, though, as one of the fully working prototypes has been spotted in the hands of a man in public transit. The phone has been captured on video, and said video was then shared on YouTube for the rest of us to see.
While image quality isn't the best and the video is quite blurry, one can spot the unique position and a shape of the front camera and the bezel-less display. The user is seemingly listening to music (through wired headphones) and using WhatsApp. A little over two weeks ago, we found out that the device does not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack, so there's either an adapter at play, or audio is coming from a different device.

The Essential Phone had its announcement on late May. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, sporting the beefy Adreno 540 GPU. Additionally, it packs a healthy 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The handset comes with a dual rear camera, one being a 13 MP RGB sensor and the other is 13 MP Monochrome sensor. Then there's the 8 MP selfie-shooter visible on the video. The phone comes with a 3.040 mAh battery and a 5.71″ QHD (2560 x 1312) display.
The PH-1 also comes with its own modular accessory system. The back of the device features a magnetic connector with wireless data transfer capabilities to which you can attach various modules, and customers who opted to pay $50 more will get a 360-degree attachable camera.
